Molecular modelling of nucleic acids hairpin loops based on the theory of elasticity (godz. 12:30, sala 110)

A new concept to fold nucleic acids into short loops is presented. It is based on the assumption that single stranded chains behave as thin elastic rods. Model structures derived from this theoritical approach are shown to be in very good agreement with published solution DNA and RNA tri- and tetra-loops.
